TOP OF THE THIRD, TWO OUTS, A MAN ON SECOND

Yesterday, Nomar and Aramis Ramirez showed me that I could take my post from a couple nights ago and stick it up my ass (and I said, thank you). It was the top of third, Corey Patterson was on second base, and there were two outs. Nomar came to the plate, and I wrote the inning off, not a big deal really, it was still early. But Nomar didn't get out. He hung in there, stayed patient and drew the walk. Then it was Aramis Ramirez's turn at the plate and I dared to hope, but not too much. Bam! Three run homer! Yeah! That's the way to do it.

I could mention the point in the seventh inning when there was a runner at third and both Nomar and Aramis got out without advancing him (I guess I am mentioning it), but despite those wiley Pirates who kept battling back and managed to load the bases in the bottom of the eighth, the Cubs managed to hang on and win Saturday's game by a run.

I didn't see the game today, but I accidentally stumbled upon the score. Another win and the Cubs are at .500.
