WANNA SEE SOME SMALL BALL?
Fire up your MLBTV and watch today's Diamondbacks@Nationals game starting at the 1:07 time mark, as Nationals Brad Wilkerson goes to bat in the bottom of the 4th, score 3-0 Arizona.
Nats advance the runner, base by base, all the way 'round to home, changing the score to 3-1. Stuff like that makes me giddy.
Far later, Vidro's broken bat single sets the tone for the dramatic 7th, where the Nationals explode after 1 out with 6 runs (start watching at 2:16 for all the fun). Diamondbacks, who hadn't scored since the 2nd -- their only inning with runs -- never recovered.
8-4 standing. They sit at the top of the MLB with White Sox and Orioles, beholden statistically only to the uncanny and annoying Dodgers. But a lot of teams like Boston, Toronto, and Minnesota lurk not far behind.
It's at moments like this that I'm really feeling how early it is in the season.
C'mon, Giants and Cubs. Look to RFK stadium for some inspiration will ya?
