TODAY'S CUBS GAME: 5 - 8

Wow, I enjoyed the chance to see my new knowledge of Zambrano in action. Despite the outrageous number of homeruns hit in this game, I thought Zambrano did well. What happened with the Cubs bullpen?

I've decided that this whole starter, reliever, closer scenario is terribly nervewracking, presenting all kinds of variables that old-school pitching didn't seem to contend with.

Dodgers and Yankees are notorious for not expending their fuel on crackerjack starters...they wait until relief is in sight to start pouncing. And I have yet to see a closer do his job this season (not that I've watched every game, mind you -- I refer simply to the teams I have time to follow closely).

The Pirates aren't even on my radar, but I'll definitely watch tomorrow's game with a more scrutinous eye toward their abilities.

Holy Moses! I just missed the Giants' 6-run 4th inning (Game 2 @ Colorado), including Pedro Feliz's second grand slam of the season (I may correct myself later...that first dramatic moment might have been a triple RBI). Schwing!
