CONFLUENCE OF THE STARS, PART 2
As I write, tired and cranky after a long day of work, the Giants just pulled ahead of the dreaded Rockies (queue scary music) on some smart small ball. They just brought Mike Metheny into the game, as well as closer Armando Benitez. Father Alou means business. Apparently, he--and the team--want this game. Something fierce.
The Nationals just played a quintessential Nationals game, winning by one run over their arch-foes, the Braves. The quintessence of which I speak manifested mostly as the almost-cliched Washington stratagem: solid if not superheroic starter pitching, impeccable pitching relief, and beefy defense. Once again, Jose Guillen, with his .301, proved he's the closest thing the Nationals have to an MLB superstar.
After a rain postponement yesterday, this is the first game of their series. Tomorrow--although I'll miss most of it live--they play a doubleheader.
[Alert!] The Giants just beat the dreaded Rockies (queue scary music) 4-3 on a beautiful snipe by Mike Metheny from home plate to 2nd base. I see why they pay this guy the big bucks. Impressive, indeed.
Meanwhile, in the vast midwest, the Cubbies defeated the Dodgers, a game I'm getting ready to stream because Chicago whupping LA is like great sex with a life-like doll.
You know what I mean. Don't you?
