CONFLUENCE OF THE STARS
I can probably count on one hand the number of times my hometown teams all won their games on the same day, but I'm too lazy to go figure it out.
It's a great way to enter the weekend, seeing the Cubs, Nationals, and Giants eking out wins, some of them suspenseful, others not. Sweetest among the wins are the Cubs and Giants wins, since the Cardinals are a great literary foil to Chicago, and I don't like Florida. Nationals beating the Rockies in Coor's Field has some oomph, but, hey, it's just the Rockies. I'll be duly impressed if the Nationals sweep Colorado in their own rarified air. Then, and only then, will I whoop for joy.
