CUBS & NATIONALS MARATHON

Hey Erik,

I really missed you during this fascinating sweep. There was so much good pitching and defense, with a hefty dose of power batting, usually at moments when it was really needed (like Aramis Ramirez and Brian Schneider very late in today's long, roller-coaster game). 900 or so pitchers participated in today's chess match. Hell, they used so many, I think each team borrowed a few from the Southside. Jedi Masters Dusty Baker and Frank Robinson matched each other, strategic move for strategic move. Ryan Drese and the Angry Baby Giant™ used the Force on each other, although Zambrano did not emerge unscathed. Overall, Mark Prior, Livan Hernandez, and Ryan Dempster shone bright. Jerome Williams and Tony Armas struggled, but pitched well in the end.

It was a great series, a massively important sweep for the Nationals (only their second on the road), and a grueling heartbreak for the Cubbies (wiped out at home...ugh). Hope you got a chance to watch some of the games. What did you think?
