I'LL SEE YOUR CLOBBERING AND RAISE YOU ONE
No, no, mister, there will be no agitated self-pity around here. Not without my participation. Perhaps the Giants and Cubs should play each other more often. That way, they can not-clobber each other to death.
I took figures from your table below (omitting only the the Brewers game so I had an even number of clobber games to compare—five games per team), plotted the Giants' equally abysmal clobber record for June, and compared their clobber losses through two lenses: 1) by game, showing the opponents' winning scores and 2) by weeks in June, totalling the opponents' runs in clobber games per week. One theme that's clear: the Cubs were clobbered by good teams, the Giants by teams that stink. Also, week 3 for the Cubs was a disaster, suffering 40 opponent runs in the 4 games in which they were clobbered, while the Giants had a bad week 2, eating 30 opponent runs in 3 games.
