INTERLEAGUE WEEKEND

White Sox kicked off an interleague weekend by beating the Cubs, 5-1 at Comiskey Park, or whatever the bejeezus they call it these days. Tonight, the Giants and Oakland pair up in San Francisco, which hopefully won't be one of the most boring games ever. Unfortunately, the Nationals won't be playing the Baltimore Orioles, which would have been a sweet match. Instead, they're playing their old Canadian counterparts, the Blue Jays, who are stinking up the AL East. D.C., which is only half a game out of first place, could use some easy wins against the Blue Jays to climb the ladder and sit at the top of the NL East with Florida. This means, of course, that Florida is going to have to lose to Tampa Bay over the weekend, which is as likely as my spontaneously developing Jedi powers. And a lot hinges on what happens between Atlanta and Boston.

It would be nice, a real booster shot in the arm, if the Cubs could eke out at least one win against the mighty Sox. It looked like a beautiful day in Chicago...I hope the north side of town has something to celebrate this weekend.
