AN AFTERNOON AT MAYS FIELD

I had the joy of attending today's Cardinals@Giants game. Barry Bonds did not play. Albert Pujols did not hit a home run. The Giants did not win.

I sat above left field, Club Level, directly in the path of a strong, still sun. It was the kind of beautiful afternoon that inspires an urge for deep sleep in a cot under a couple of trees. I'm so tired, in fact, that I'm just going to put up some photos.

Juan Encarnacion and Albert Pujols stretching their parts and pieces.

The kid says, "Play ball!"

It's not like we're paying any attention to the record. Really.

Um, can I get a Pepsi?

Not even Noah Lowry's cute buns can save the day.
