BASEBALL RULES
Hands down, the best baseball game I’ve watched this season is the one that just concluded in Philadelphia. Phillies hosted the Mets, with Brett Myers and Pedro Martinez engaged in an all-out pitching contest. Martinez gave up three runs early in the game, but otherwise both pitchers kept it a 3-0 game through the 7th, with Myers allowing only 2 hits in all that time. As each starter came out of the game, hits started racking up, with some of the most thrilling small and long ball packed into just 2 innings. After losing their sustained lead when the Mets finally tied the game in the top of the 9th, the Phillies came back in the bottom of same with a righteous, bases-loaded run (on the pitcher's throwing error!) that ended the game 5-4.
As one of the announcers suggested, you didn’t have to be a Phillies or Mets fan to get a massive kick out of the great baseball being played from start to finish.
