STAYING ON TOP
The Nationals' #1 spot in the NL East is under threat from Atlanta, who has been doing rather well, lately. The bastards. I was feeling great about the Washington/Colorado series starting today, since, in all likelihood, the Nationals will take a few of those games from the impoverished Rockies. But then I noticed who Atlanta is facing for their next three games, and all hope was lost.
You see, the Braves are bringing their game to Giants stadium for the next three contests. Even though the Giants flexed some muscle by beating the beleaguered Dodgers 3 of the last 4, Atlanta doesn't have nearly the problems LA does. Which is all my roundabout way of saying the Giants are in for a possible spanking.
So, if Washington can't roundly dismiss Colorado to keep the status quo in the NL East, it's entirely possible that the Nationals will relinquish the division throne—to those from whom they stole it—for the first time in over 6 weeks. A regular nail-biter, I'd say.
