TODAY'S GIANTS GAME: 10 - 3

Happy Birthday, Pedro Feliz (now 30, he's the same age as my young co-blogger Erik). Our rock-star everyman today hit a three-run homer. It was one of many, many hits that led to the second day in a row the Giants have proven their mettle against an ostensibly superior team. Jason Ellison, whom I got to meet and watch in the batting cage during spring training got three hits and three runs. Like Feliz, he's proving to be one of the "new" Giants...solid players who are 30 or younger.

I've suggested in earlier posts that I'm about to cry foul where the Giants are concerned, but the team seems to be waking up. Moises Alou's return from the DL helps, in spirit if not in scoring runs. Last night's dramatic game was the J.T. Snow show, a marvelous demonstration of a veteran slowpoke and Gold Glove infielder taking no prisoners as he slid into home for a colossal run. The upcoming road trip will tell us lots about whether this is a spike or the beginning of a trend.
